Magnetic Fidelity New Year Newsletter 2018
We have had another crazy and busy year during 2017, with several important events and a lot of changes. Most of the records we cut ended up making it to some kind of Top 20 chart, with the debut album of Naxatras remaining on Number 1 on all-genres, internationally, for several weeks, on bandcamp charts, and showing no signs of dropping from Top 10! Their first pressing sold out an impressive number of copies for the standards of our times, beautifully demonstrating the importance of quality for the sales potential of an album. Elina Verikiou has completed a documentary film about our studio, titled "Magnetic Fidelity: A Love Story". She filmed during our early days, shortly after we first opened our doors to the public. It had its debut screening in November 2017, at the Documentary Film Festival of Halkida, and will be screened at more festivals around the world in 2018. Like, we're famous, we're on TV (Hi Mom!)... Analog recording, as well as master lacquer disks cut entirely in the analog domain, directly from the master tapes, are still very much in demand, both by the artists and the buying public, and our customer base has been spreading to include prominent artists from many different parts of the world. As usual, we have been doing some upgrades to our gear, and we are keeping everything precisely calibrated. More improvements are planned for 2018, so stay tuned, gearlovers! Did you hear about the ultra-high-end SME tonearm we have just fitted to our reference record reproduction system? You can check it out on our lovely new website, designed by Sabine Steldinger, and keep visiting back regularly, to find out about all the little and not so little things we are always working on. Just in case you haven't already found out yet, we also have a twitter and facebook account were you can follow us:
Magnetic Fidelity Records, our record label, is planning on new and exciting releases for the coming year, on vinyl, DSD, and finally some 1/4" tape for the discerning audiophile. But we're keeping the details secret for now to keep you on edge! Some more high quality audio equipment, designed by our mastering engineer, J. I. Agnew, materialized during 2017: The Growler loudspeaker cabinet, as a match to the Beyonder instrument amplifier from 2016, and a new massively bigger and more versatile version of the FudGe instrument effect unit, the Molecular Gastronomy², all custom made to order and fitted with the best components available. Many more designs and ideas are in line waiting to be turned into exceptional real world audio gear. Special thanks to our family and all enthusiasts for your support, encouragement and love to keep this thing going, we really do appreciate it! Have a happy and successful new year! Jesus & Sabine
