Studer PR99 mkIII Custom
The Studer PR99 is an analog tape recorder, built by Studer, mainly for use in broadcasting. It has a fairly compact size (can be mounted on a rack) and offers very high sound quality along with a decent tape transport system. It is fairly easy to calibrate and can record flat from 25 Hz to 22 kHz at 510nWb/m. It has a different sound to the Telefunkens, but still sounds really good, so we use it, when we want a different flavour. It has a built-in locator which often comes in handy.
This machine has been extensively modified by Jesus Agnew to improve the headroom, definition and transport stability.
