Akai GX-215D
A smaller cousin of the Akai GX-630D in our main mastering room, the Akai GX-215D is a great little quarter track stereo machine, using the same crystal ferrite heads.
It runs at 7.5 and 3.75 ips and we use it in our editing suite. It sounds just as good as its larger cousins, but is limited to using smaller size reels. Definitely has its own signature sound. Not for transparent work, but great for when color is needed.
